Harald Bluetooth built the Viking fortress of Trelleborg, and that is where this Viking warrior pendant was found. Trelleborg was home to hundreds of warriors and amongst the many objects found by archeologists was this intriguing mask pendant. It could represent a god, we cannot be certain, but many such mask pendants have been found from the Viking Age. Several myths tell of how Odin preserved the head of the wise man Mimir and used it to gain advice about the Otherworld, to which the dead had special access. Perhaps these mask pendants were thought to offer similar guidance.
