The raven was a very powerful symbol for the Vikings, so I have recreated it on a modern T-shirt.

The raven pattern on the front comes originally from a fantastic horse collar from Sollested, Denmark. I have carefully redrawn the sharp, feather-like interlace to stretch across the chest. The back design is my own design of the raven taking flight, drawn in the Mammen art style of the Viking Age.

There are many references to ravens in the poetry of the vikings and many examples of viking art show the image of this mythical bird.

It was a symbol of the power of the mind and a connection to the spirit world. In short, what the vikings thought of as wisdom.

As a spirit animal, the raven could act as guide for the shaman to the Otherworld.

Odin, as god of magic, has two ravens Huginn and Muninn – Thought and Memory – who aid him in his constant quest for wisdom. He is referrred to as Hrafnaguth, the Raven God.

Now this ancient symbol lives again on a modern shirt.

The prints are produced in a small workshop in England. Washfast and long-lasting, they are printed by hand on the highest grade 100% cotton T-shirts. All shirts are black.
