Round Cloak Pin from Viking Gotland
-
Description
This fantastic example of a cloak pin in the Viking Ringerike art style originates in Gotland. The actual find was produced in the 11th century and covered with a stunning swirling pattern of interlocking beasts. I have raised mine in a dome shape and cut the pattern through in openwork.
This is an outstanding example of the superb metalwork that was being produced on the great trading island of Gotland. It will look just as magnificent on a cloak today as the original must have done in an ancient longhall long ago, glinting in the firelight.
Diameter 80mm
Weight for Sterling Silver 142g (Weight may vary from piece to piece)
