Viking Cloak Pin with Animal Head Terminals
The cloak, the most characterstic garment of the Viking Age, was often closed with a pin. I copied this animal head cloak pin from a striking example of a type from 10th century Gotland, also found in Birka. It's easy to imagine its original forerunner glinting in the firelight of the longhall. Rearing animal head terminals and a solid hexagonal cross-section compliment the powerful curves of this beautiful piece. A strong steel pin ensures that it will hold your cloak securely, but it is easy to take on and off.
