Borre Style Belt Set for Garter Straps
-
Description
This beautiful little belt set in Borre style was found as a pair in a man's grave in Denmark. The position on the body shows they were used as garter straps. The buckle is decorated with a smooth spiral ribbon ornament. The belt loop is actually a four-legged gripping beast. The strap end shows a stylised male mask. All are very fine examples of the 9th - 10th century Borre style.
I am selling them as a single set because I think they would also be suitable for a lightweight belt set for the waist.
